Hello, my name is Barb and I’m an artist or shall I say, I love playing in the creative realm. I’ve skirted the edges of calling myself an artist for nearly 40 of my 47 years on this earth but I’m hopeful that change is afoot. I’ve enjoyed art and the energy of aesthetics for as long as I can remember. I loved drawing and coloring and rearranging my bedroom as a kid. I took all the art classes I could in school and it was in my senior year in high school that the photography bug bit me, I had so much fun working in the darkroom and oh yeah and taking pictures.
My first job out of high school was in a one hour photo lab on Ft Lauderdale Beach where I learned all sorts of photography skills, all of the behind the scenes lab work (yes it was in the old days of film) as well as studio portraiture and events like fancy parties and weddings. I can’t say for sure what happened (side note: I’m a huge introvert) but a few years of that and I decided that being a photographer was not my thing.
Since then I’ve had such an array of different jobs and trainings. Paramedic and firefighter, camp cook, bank teller, server, yoga teacher training, and massage therapy as my most recent and longest standing career to date. It’s so ironic to me that I end up back here again contemplating what kind of artist to be. For now I’m just gonna go with the photography that I loose all track of time doing and that is abstract and nature photography.
Thanks to my family, friends and my oh-so patient wife for allowing me the freedom to explore what kinds of things I want to create. Thanks for checking out my website and reading this far in. Peace and love.
